I have been doing my own blog on poverty for school, just small details to educate those around me. However, I have been impacted so much by the numbers of poor, homeless, and hungry in the world, especially in United States. This is a great idea but than agian, it needs to be everywhere. Just as the comments before me. That's fantastic that this is happening but it doesn't put a dent in those who are still out there without houseing.

I would be concerned with creating a new slum. Although the home-ownership aspect is appealing, the fact that all of these low-income homes are in the same suburban location is troubling. Government subsidies would likely exacerbate the problem. Here in Seattle, I am interested to see how the approach in the Lake Union area will pan out... they are integrating a significant portion of low-income (subsidized?) condo units into the same buildings as market-priced units.

I think this is something that could also be applied to the already developed nations like the US. I have been doing a lot of research on the homeless in the United States and it's very disturbing to me. I think it would be a great idea to have more government funded housing made available to those who are severely struggling but are seaking an opportunity to better themselves. So many people out there don't know where to go and are helpless. I wish I could just go out, find homeless people, and offer them a safe/warm place to live and care for themselves. Even if they have bad problems... combine that housing with other tools to get better. There just isn't enough things like this and the situations the homeless are in are absolutely horrible.
